Overview

Janssen Sciences Ireland UC (formerly Centocor) is part of the Johnson & Johnson Group. This award-winning development involved a greenfield bio-medicines manufacturing facility in Cork, Ireland. The facility produces monoclonal antibody products for the detection and treatment of many human diseases. It will also produce material for clinical trials.

The Challenge

The requirements from the client required a cost-effective material that was easy to install, corrosion resistant and capable of performing at a high design and operating temperature.

The Solution

This project involved the design, manufacture, supply and install of Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) carrier pipe with a polypropylene outer containment spools for a high-tech pharma plant. The project also involved the design, manufacture, supply and install of polypropylene chambers and associated double contained polypropylene pipework.

Result

Over 250m of double contained GRE/Polypropylene itemised, prefabricated spools with accompanying drawings for installation were provided. This pipework was both installed on both pumped and gravity fed lines. All associated stainless-steel channels and gullies could also be successfully married to both the polypropylene and GRE. Spools were fabricated to client’s exact specification and in order to achieve the required dimensions in both GRE and Polypropylene.
